Codes and conventions of student magazines

Campus life has the image over the text this could connote a sense that the magazine is reasonably well known and means they don’t have to show the whole name. There is some use of lures; they help, pull the reader into the magazine. There is a puff; this makes you want to read the magazine for the free things etc.

The contents page from the magazine Campus Life contains a selection of images showing the content of the magazine, this gives an insight into the magazine and helps the reader to select a page or article they think they would enjoy.

The front cover of 247 is a bright, colourful one. This is to grab the viewer’s attention; the use of bright colours captures the reader’s eye and makes them want to read it. The use of a graffiti backdrop has a youthful feel. The tagline “your essential guide to the month ahead” this connotes a sense of helpfulness. The lures are used to draw the reader in and make them seem interested in the content of the magazine.
